Our Story

In 1976, three young draftsmen founded a company in a modest bungalow in Melbourne’s southern suburbs. In the more than four decades since, Balpara is now a leading provider of engineering, design and surveying services to Australian organisations and communities. 

Starting from humble beginnings under the name Bayside Drafting Australia, the business quickly experienced significant growth in a thriving construction market. Working on major projects, the company made its mark on skylines across Australia. 

Bayside Drafting continued to expand, offering an increasingly broad range of structural and electrical engineering services, servicing the power, resources, infrastructure, land development and communications sectors. 

In August 2010 Bayside Drafting changed its name to Balpara to reflect the company’s growth and diversification. Over the years, Balpara has evolved on the basis of its key founding principles; specialist expertise and strong customer relationships. This has resulted in long term partnerships, many of which span decades. 

Balpara has maintained ISO9001 certification since 2011 with no major non-conformances to date. This achievement is a reflection of our commitment to continuous improvement and quality service delivery as we expand our capabilities into the future.
