Electrical Design for Station Street Residential Development
March 26, 2026

Balpara undertook electrical design for a 12-lot residential subdivision at a Station Street residential development, complying with AS/NZS 3000 standards and NBN infrastructure requirements.

Project Overview

This residential development project involved the design and coordination of electrical and telecommunications infrastructure for a 12-lot residential subdivision. Our team was engaged to develop a compliant servicing strategy to ensure each lot could be supplied with both reliable electricity and NBN broadband connectivity.

The project required the careful integration of underground power and telecommunications infrastructure within the subdivision layout, ensuring all services were coordinated with civil works and complied with both AS/NZS 3000 and NBN servicing guidelines.

Project Scope

Balpara was responsible for delivering the electrical AS3000 reticulation design and NBN pit and conduit design, supporting the project from concept through to construction documentation and authority submissions.

Key elements of our scope included:

  • Designing the underground low-voltage electrical AS3000 reticulation network servicing all 12 lots
  • Completing load assessments to determine electrical supply requirements for the development
  • Preparing electrical pit and conduit layouts coordinated with the civil road design
  • Designing the NBN pit and conduit network to service each residential lot
  • Coordinating service alignments to maintain required clearances between electrical and telecommunications assets
  • Assisting with NBN approvals

Relevant Accreditation/Quality Standards

  • AS/NZS 3000
  • NBN servicing guidelines.

Value Add

The project involved coordination of multiple underground services within limited road reserve corridors and our design approach ensured:

  • Efficient routing of electrical and NBN conduits within the subdivision
  • Compliance with clearance requirements between electrical, telecommunications, and other underground utilities
  • Practical pit placement to support future access, maintenance, and lot connections
  • A buildable design aligned with the civil construction staging

The Station Street project resulted in a fully coordinated electrical and NBN servicing design for the 12-lot subdivision. By integrating both services during the design phase, we were able to streamline NBN approvals and minimise potential service conflicts during construction.

The final design provided reliable electrical supply and high-speed broadband connectivity to each lot, supporting the delivery of modern residential infrastructure for the development.
