Australia Post Distribution Centre Upgrade
December 3, 2020

Balpara facilitated the Project Management, Design, Detailing and Auditing of a new internal electrical system for the new Australia Post Distribution Centre upgrade.

Project Overview

In order to optimise its delivery network to meet increased current and projected future demand, Australia Post is upgrading its Sunshine West Distribution Centre. The project involved the development of a new parcel distribution factory, and moving from low voltage (LV) to high voltage (HV) electrical supply, utilising a new internal system and grid.

Balpara was engaged by Maxim Electrical & Infrastructure to complete the electrical design and auditing works, and provide electrical project management services that saw us liaise with Powercor to ensure smooth delivery of the project.

Project Scope

  • Devising AS3000-complient electrical grid design for new internal system.
  • Earthing and protection studies of the new HV system.
  • Detailing as-built drawings of electrical infrastructure in line with Powercor standards.
  • Conducting earthing design and field-testing studies to ensure new HV system satisfies utility requirements.
  • Electrical project management and negotiations by Balpara’s accredited PM2 mangers.
  • Detailing and auditing of the High Voltage assets.
